ABOUT US

My life in the kitchen and bath industry, like many others, began from a need.  More than 25 years ago I was a general contractor doing large renovations and new home construction in the US.  We often experienced delays and issues with our cabinet providers.  To solve this, I decided to open a small cabinet company to design and build kitchens and baths for our projects.  Fast-forward two years and we were in such high demand that we opted to close the construction side and moved with rigorous focus into our new 15,000 square foot facility.  Since then, my capabilities and knowledge flourished, and as expected, my career followed suit.

It wasn’t until about 2020 that we seriously considered Costa Rica for our home.  My wife and I did some scouting trips, talked with as many people as we could to determine if there was a chance a cabinet company could thrive here.  What we saw, was an industry that is years behind the fierce competition in the US in terms of designs, service and products, and providers who were not 100% proactive in making sure their clients were completely supported.  It was this realization that spurred us to embark on a mission, to create what is now StudioTingo.  To bring a sense of urgency, an insatiable work ethic, elevated design, prompt communications, precision production and best-in-class focus on the client and the project.

Meet the Gringo

StudioTingo is the brainchild of Stephen Patterson, the “gringo” element of StudioTingo. His path to Costa Rica began 20+ years ago when, on a vacation to the central Pacific, he became enchanted with this beautiful country. He possesses a wealth of experience in the luxury kitchen & bath industry, having owned, started, and managed several successful woodworking and cabinet companies in the US. An insatiable work ethic, strong sense of urgency and obsessive attention to detail have helped him succeed in many roles, including design, engineering, facility set-up, production, and installation. Now a resident of Costa Rica, he is excited to share his passion for finely built cabinetry and furniture, elegant design, and a refreshing commitment to client satisfaction.

Meet the Tica

Tingo, simply stated, equals Tica + Gringo. We wouldn't be here without the charm and universal knowledge of our co-founder, Priscilla Carranza. For years, Priscilla was a part owner of a very successful construction business here in Costa Rica, one responsible for developing some of the most well-known structures and resorts. Her industry relationships and business management skills are instrumental in the operations of StudioTingo. Being married to the aforementioned Gringo? Well, let's just say you get the best of both worlds!
